On December 13, 2015, we partnered with Light Patrol to assemble blankets for homeless youth in Toronto. Light Patrol is an outreach program of Youth Unlimited (Toronto YFC) that responds to the needs of Toronto’s homeless and street-involved youth. Since 2001, Light Patrol has been assisting and guiding these vulnerable young people, helping them transition away from the destructive elements of Toronto’s street life.
Light Patrol gave a presentation on the work that they. We purchased the blankets and were guided by Rachel Yu on the proper assembly. Settlement Assistance and Family Support Services also donated 10 survival kits and 10 sleeping bags to light patrol.
We also had holiday and classical musical performances by Min-Hi Choi (on the violin) and Jaye Marsh (on the flute) and snacks and refreshments.
Thank you to our excellent master of ceremony Deryl Abraham for bringing cheer and professionalism to the event. Special thanks to Shoppers Drug Mart employees, led by Mala Gosyne, who collected funds and donated to CCA-Canada to cover the cost of the blankets.
