Topic: Seniors – Socially Connected Physical Activity: What, why, and how?

Our first event of 2021 was a fascinating talk on current research on senior’s health and activity.
Mark Beauchamp, Professor of Exercise and Health Psychology in the School of Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia, shared his current research on how physical activity is helping seniors improve their mental health during the pandemic.

He discussed:

* How physical inactivity is increasing over the past century leading to premature mortality.

* Exercise preferences of different age groups.

* Group based physical Activity for Older Adults.

* Improvement of mental health through group activity in seniors.
