We celebrated our 6th anniversary with a beautiful event led by our young professional master of ceremony: Deryl Abraham.
We kicked off the event with a native indian fancy shawl dance by Cylene Morrison, who is an anishnawbe woman from temegami first nations. We were then treated to a world class performance by the Juno-nominated Autorickshaw trio of Suba Sankaran, Ed Hanley and Dylan Bell. We enjoyed a scrumptious Italian buffet lunch which gave us the energy for a presentation by Lisa Ward, Toronto and Region Conservation Area, on Climate Change.
Then representatives from our partner organizations, Tia Clark and Patricia Gomez gave us a presentation on their organization, 416 Community Support for Women, which provides provides a refuge for women and the resources required for the preservation of their health and dignity. They also gave us an introduction to Compassion Fatigue and Vicarious Trauma which many social workers and care givers experience. We concluded the event with a group native indian dance led by Cylene Morrison.
“Thanks again for including me and TRCA in celebrating CCA-Canada’s 6th Anniversary on Sunday.” Lisa Ward, Guest speaker and Multicultural Program Coordinator – Newcomer Programs.
